چکیده

I will review several statistical estimation problems which arise in the computational anatomy setting, casting three problems of statistical estimation as examples of parameter estimation in the context of many templates: (i) disease estimation, (ii) segmentation and (iii) template estimation. Then I will discuss one of the central questions in neurodegenerative diseases today, the staging of neurodegeneration in brain circuits associated to the network hypothesis. I will show results from Alzeimer’s and Huntington’s disease. Along the way I will discuss progress with Susumu Mori on building several Brain Clouds associated to young subjects and aging subjects.

The Anatomy of DSGE Models with Banking Industry for Iran's Economy

The recent financial crisis has raised several questions with respect to the financial institutions and banking industry. Hence, over the last decade the Iranian banking industry has undergone many substantial changes, such as liberalization, government regulation and technological advances. What impacts do these changes have on the policy instruments? We have answered this question in this stu...

Inverse Problems in Imaging Systems and the General Bayesian Inversion Frawework

In this paper, first a great number of inverse problems which arise in instrumentation, in computer imaging systems and in computer vision are presented. Then a common general forward modeling for them is given and the corresponding inversion problem is presented. Then, after showing the inadequacy of the classical analytical and least square methods for these ill posed inverse problems, a Baye...

Computational Pattern Separation Models of Dentate Gyrus Neural Subpopulation in the Hippocampus

Hippocampus is a part of the brain that has an essential role in memory and learning. It is involved in many cognitive and behavioral phenomena, including the pattern separation process: the ability to distinguish patterns with very high similarity. The present study compared the models of pattern separation in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus and aimed to investigate the significant cel...

Recent Updates in the Treatment of Neurodegenerative Disorders Using Natural Compounds

Neurodegenerative diseases are characterized by protein aggregates and inflammation as well as oxidative stress in the central nervous system (CNS). Multiple biological processes are linked to neurodegenerative diseases such as depletion or insufficient synthesis of neurotransmitters, oxidative stress, abnormal ubiquitination. Furthermore, damaging of blood brain barrier (BBB) in the CNS also l...

The Nasal Route as a Potential Pathway for Delivery of Erythropoietin in the Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke in Humans

Intranasal delivery provides a practical, noninvasive method of bypassing the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in order to deliver therapeutic agents to the brain. This method allows drugs that do not cross the BBB to be delivered to the central nervous system in a few minutes. With this technology, it will be possible to eliminate systemic administration and its potential side effects. Using the intr...
